Romulus Downtown Development Authority
Home

The Downtown Development Authority, is a board of thirteen local business people and residents that together with the Mayor and our elected officials work to promote the economic growth, development and revitalization of our city's original Central Business District.

These responsibilities include the development and implementation of long range plans for public facilities and infrastructure, the acquisition and disposal of property, the restoration and preservation of all buildings and the correction and prevention of deterioration.

The DDA promotes economic development through capital improvement projects, with the intent that it will stimulate private investment, create jobs and expand the tax base.

DDA projects have included the construction of a new Senior Center building, expansion of the Romulus Historical Park, property purchases for additional parking and redevelopment, image branding, entryway enhancements, streetscape improvements and street lighting on Goddard Road. Long-range plans will encourage additional multi-unit brownstone-type housing and additional retail within our DDA boundaries.

The DDA Facade Enhancement Program, has matched grants to downtown business for facade, signage, lighting and landscape improvements of over $50,000.
